Volume Gateway is a hybrid cloud storage solution that provides cloud-backed iSCSI block storage volumes for on-premises applications. It manages and stores your on-premises data in Amazon S3, operating in either cache mode or stored mode to optimize data access and storage.

In cached mode, your primary data is stored in Amazon S3, while frequently accessed data is kept locally in a cache. This setup allows for low-latency access to the data you use most often, improving performance for your applications.

AWS Backup allows you to take point-in-time copies of your volumes, which are stored as Amazon EBS snapshots. This feature provides space-efficient versioned copies for data protection, recovery, and migration, ensuring that your data is secure and easily manageable.
